晶状体囊（capsula lentis）是一层透明、无结构的膜，紧密包绕晶状体，前部较后部厚。其质脆但弹性极强，破裂时边缘向外表面方向卷曲。后方，它位于玻璃体前部的玻璃体窝内；前方，与虹膜游离缘相接触，但在周缘处与虹膜游离缘分离，从而形成眼球后房；其位置主要由晶状体悬韧带维持，如前所述。
晶状体囊是一层光滑、透明的基底膜，完全包绕晶状体。晶状体囊具有弹性，由胶原蛋白构成，由晶状体上皮细胞合成，其主要成分为IV型胶原蛋白和硫酸化糖胺聚糖（GAGs）。晶状体囊弹性极强，因此当不受连接晶状体囊与睫状体的悬韧带纤维张力作用时，晶状体呈现更接近球形的形态。晶状体囊厚度为2至28微米，在赤道附近最厚，在后极附近最薄。晶状体囊可能与晶状体前曲率大于后曲率有关。
