喉的黏膜富含大量分泌黏液的腺体（喉腺），其开口几乎遍布各处；这些腺体在会厌处尤为丰富，嵌于会厌实质内的小凹中；沿杓会厌襞边缘、杓状软骨前方亦有大量分布，该处的腺体称为杓状腺。此外，喉室附件中也存在大量此类腺体。声襞游离缘则无腺体分布。
