纵切面是指沿身体长轴方向排列的垂直切面，可分为矢状面和冠状面。

矢状面是指垂直方向的前后切面，当其通过处于解剖学姿势的身体时，将身体分为左右两部分。

冠状面是指垂直方向的左右切面，当其通过处于解剖学姿势的身体时，将身体分为前后两部分。

矢状面与冠状面均属纵切面，二者均与横切面（水平面）垂直相交。
