Anatomical parts and terminology

  • Browse between the different anatomical structures of the human body using the tree structure on the left of this page.

  • Display the definition and anatomical pictures (illustrations, medical imaging) of the selected structure and click on the images to access the dedicated anatomical module.

The current international standard for human anatomical terminology is based on the Terminologia Anatomica1 (TA), developed by the Federative Committee on Anatomical Terminology (FCAT) and the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA). The Terminologia Anatomica contains the terminology of around 7,500 anatomical (macroscopic) structures. It was created to standardize the language of anatomy.
The tree structure on the left of this page lists the anatomical terms, which can be browsed using the human anatomy nomenclature of your choice.
