Definition
The abducens nerve canal (Dorello's canal) is an bow-shaped osteofibrous conduit located at the level of the petrous apex through in which the abducens nerve (CN VI) courses to reach the cavity of the cavernous sinus.
The abducens nerve canal is an interdural space (between both dural leaves) with its opening located in the pontine cisterne and ending in the cavernous sinus at the petroclival venous confluence. The roof abducens nerve canal of the is made by the petroclinoid ligament (Gruber ligament), the floor by the petrosal process of the sphenoid bone, the medial wall byt the dorsum sellae and the lateral wall byt the apex of petrous part of temporal bone.
