肱骨的头部，形态近似半球形，朝向上方、内侧，并略向后方，与肩胛骨的关节盂相关节。
其关节面的周缘略为收缩，称为解剖颈，以区别于结节下方的收缩部分，后者称为外科颈，为骨折的好发部位。解剖颈骨折极为罕见。
