腹直肌鞘后层沿腹直肌全长的构成有所不同：

  • 在弓状线以上，后层由腹内斜肌和腹横肌的腱膜共同构成（腹内斜肌腱膜分裂为两层包绕腹直肌，分别参与构成鞘的前层和后层，而腹横肌腱膜则仅参与构成腹直肌鞘后层）。
  • 在弓状线以下，腹直肌鞘后层缺如。在此水平，三块肌的腱膜（腹外斜肌、腹内斜肌及腹横肌）均移行至腹直肌前方，腹直肌后方仅余腹横筋膜和腹膜。
