胸肋辐状韧带由宽而薄的膜性纤维带组成，从真肋软骨胸骨端的前面和后面呈辐射状延伸至胸骨的前面和后面。
这些韧带由走行方向各异的[臂丛]束构成。上束斜向上行，下束斜向下行，中束水平走行。浅层纤维最长，与其上方和下方韧带的纤维相互交织，并与对侧的纤维以及前方胸大肌起点的腱性纤维相互交融，共同形成一层致密的纤维膜（胸骨膜），包裹于胸骨表面。此膜在骨的下部较上部更为明显。
