功能
- 翼外肌双侧收缩时，将下颌头及关节盘向前牵拉至关节结节下方，产生下颌前伸和张口运动。
- 单侧收缩时，下颌向对侧偏移，实现咀嚼时的侧方研磨运动。
临床联系
- 下颌偏斜：下颌神经（CN V3）损伤或翼外肌瘫痪 → 张口时下颌偏向患侧（由于对侧或健侧肌肉的拮抗作用失衡所致）。
