鼓室黏膜皱襞将鼓室分隔成多个囊状腔隙，使鼓室内部呈现出类似蜂窝状的外观。其中一个较为明显的囊状结构称为上隐窝（Prussak囊），位于锤骨颈与松弛部之间。
