Eversion

Eversio

Definition

Eversion of the foot is a movement which involves lifting the lateral border of the foot such that the sole of the foot faces laterally or outwards. The movement occurs at the intertarsal and tarsometatarsal joints and NOT on the ankle joint.

The opposite of eversion is inversion, where the sole of the foot faces inwards or medially.
