Ponticulus promontorii
Definition
Ponticle of promontory (a.k.a. ponticulus promontorii) is a small bony recess, that marks the posterior extension of the promontory on the medial wall of the middle ear cavity. It extends backwards from the promontory towards the pyramidal eminence, thereby separating the facial recess above from the sinus tympani below.
