Definition
The quadrigeminal (P3) segment of the posterior cerebral artery (PCA) refers to the part of the artery that runs through the quadrigeminal cistern.
The quadrigeminal cistern not only contains this portion of the PCA but also contains the posterior choroidal arteries, superior cerebellar arteries, the trochlear nerve (CN IV), and a confluence of veins.
This segment commonly gives off anterior and posterior inferior temporal arteries.
