Cardiovascular system
Systema cardiovasculare
Definition
The cardiovascular system (circulatory system), is a complex network responsible for the transport of blood, nutrients, gases, and waste products throughout the body. It consists of the heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, and capillaries), and blood. The heart functions as a pump, propelling blood through the arteries to various tissues and organs, while veins return deoxygenated blood back to the heart. Capillaries facilitate the exchange of oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, and waste products between blood and tissues.
