Sense organs

Organa sensuum

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The sense organs are specialized structures that detect and process specific types of stimuli from the environment, enabling perception.

The primary sense organs in humans include the eyes, ears, olfactory organ (nose), gustatory organ (tongue), and for some sources the skin. Each of these organs is associated with one of the five traditional senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, respectively.
