Systemic veins

Venae systemicae

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The systemic veins are the blood vessels that carry the deoxygenated blood from all the tissues of the body to the heart. The deoxygenated blood enters the right atrium by the inferior or superior vena cava.

The systemic veins includes the hepatic portal vein and its tributaries.

The other part of the systemic circulations are the systemic arteries and the systemic capillaries.
