Lymph

Lympha

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The lymph is a clear interstitial fluid that originates from the extracellular fluid surrounding tissues. It is composed of ultrafiltrated plasma proteins, metabolic by-products, and immune cells. The lymphatic system, which includes lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes, transports this fluid back to the venous circulation, playing a crucial role in maintaining fluid balance, immune surveillance, and the transport of lipids and other molecules.
