侧脑室额角自室间孔向前外侧方延伸，略微向下倾斜，进入额叶，并环绕尾状核前端弯曲走行。其底部由胼胝体返折部分（即嘴部）的上表面构成。内侧界为透明隔的前部，外侧界为尾状核头部。其顶端到达胼胝体膝的后表面。
