小球是一个分叶状的迂曲毛细血管网，由少量结缔组织连接固定。
该毛细血管网来源于一条细小的动脉分支，即入球小动脉，其进入肾小囊的位置通常与肾小囊和肾小管相连处相对；由此产生的静脉，即出球小动脉，从肾小囊的同一位置穿出。入球小动脉通常较出球小动脉粗大。
