外侧韧带（颞下颌韧带，外侧副韧带）由两束短而窄的纤维束组成，一前一后排列。上方附着于颧弓外侧面及其下缘的结节；下方附着于下颌骨颈部的外侧面和后缘。该韧带上宽下窄，其纤维斜向下后方走行。其表面覆盖有腮腺及皮肤。
