Costosternal synchondrosis

Synchondrosis costosternalis

Definition

The costosternal synchondrosis are particular the costosternal joints where the rib is directly connected to the sternum by a hyaline cartilage (usually the first, sixth and seventh ribs). The other costosternal joints are arthrodial joints.
