Pars anterior pedis

Definition

The forefoot is composed of two main parts: the metatarsus and the digits of the  foot.

  • The metatarsus consists of five metatarsal bones, which are situated in the posterior region of the forefoot. For more detailed information about the metatarsus, please refer to the metatarsus description.

  • The digits of the foot refer to the five toes located in the anterior part of the forefoot. Each digit is comprised of three phalanges, with the exception of the big toe, which has only two phalanges. For more specific details, please refer to the description on the digits of foot.
