Definition

IMAIOS

The lateral basal segment of the left lung (S9), is one of the basal segments of the left lower lobe. It is located on the lateral aspect of the lung base, bordered superiorly by the superior segment (S6), medially by the anterior basal segment (S8), and posteriorly by the posterior basal segment (S10). It is supplied by the lateral basal segmental bronchus (B9), the corresponding branch of the left pulmonary artery, and drained by tributaries of the left inferior pulmonary vein.
