The lateral region of the thorax refers to the side portion of the chest wall.

This area is includes structures such as the lateral aspects of the ribs, intercostal muscles, and the lateral portions of the pectoralis major and serratus anterior muscles.

It is bounded anteriorly by the anterior axillary line and posteriorly by the posterior axillary line.
