Midaxillary line
Linea axillaris media
Definition
Midaxillary line is an imaginary reference line which can be drawn on the side of the torso. It extends vertically downwards from the root of the axilla.
The midaxillary line lies midway between the anterior and posterior axillary lines and runs in parallel to them.
As part of the 12 lead ECG leads for recording the resting electrical activity of the heart, the V6 lead is placed on the midaxillary line, immediately below the midpoint of armpit.
