Pampiniform plexus
Plexus pampiniformis
Definition
The pampiniform plexus is a network of veins located in the spermatic cord, which is responsible for the venous drainage of the testes. The veins of the pampiniform plexus coalesce to form the testicular vein, which drains into the renal vein on the left side and directly into the inferior vena cava on the right side
This plexus plays a crucial role in thermoregulation of the testes, helping to maintain an optimal temperature for spermatogenesis by cooling the arterial blood before it reaches the testes.
