Definition

Antoine Micheau

The term "right costophrenic angle" is the clinical term used for the costodiaphragmatic recess of the right pleural cavity. It is located at the junction between the diaphragmatic pleura and costal pleura.

This term is used for the deposit of excess fluid in the pleural cavity, that deposes in the costophrenic angles due to gravity on standing chest X-ray.
