Subsuperior segment of right lung

The subsuperior segment of right lung is an independent segment that is infrequently (approximately 30% of individuals) observed between S6 and S10 is called the subsuperior segment (S*).

S* has an independent segmental bronchus (B*) and artery (A*, or A8 forms some authors) that are distinct from those of S6 and S10. B* (A*) bifurcates from between the basal bronchus (artery) and B10 (A10), and B* (A*) points in a posterolateral direction directly toward the vertebral body.

It has a single stem in the majority of cases, although two and three stems are sometimes seen.
