Torus levatorius
Definition
The torus levatorius is a rounded mucosal elevation seen on the lateral wall of the nasopharynx. It is produced by the underlying levator veli palatini muscle as the muscle passes downward from the skull base to the soft palate. The torus levatorius lies inferior to the torus tubarius, which is formed by the cartilaginous part of the pharyngotympanic (auditory) tube.
