Caroticotympanic arteries
Arteriae caroticotympanicae
Definition
The caroticotympanic arteries (ramus caroticotympanicus; tympanic branch;caroticotympanic branch) is small; it enters the tympanic cavity through a minute foramen in the carotid canal, and anastomoses with the anterior tympanic branch of the internal maxillary, and with the stylomastoid artery.
This branch is rarely seen in brain arteriography, as it is encased in thick temporal bone
