Ganglion impar
Ganglion impar
- Eponym: Ganglion of Walther
Definition
Ganglion impar is the single small terminal ganglion that is formed by the union of the two sacral sympathetic trunks.
The sacral sympathetic trunks represent the inferior ends of the sympathetic chains that descend on the anterior surface of the sacrum, medial to the anterior sacral foramina. They fuse together with each other in the midline in front of the coccyx, to form the ganglion impar.
