Definition
The intermembranous part of the rima glottidis (Membranous glottis; Phonatory glottis)) is the anterior portion of the glottic opening that lies between the two membranous (vibrating) vocal folds specifically, the space bounded by the vocal ligaments and the overlying mucosa, extending from the anterior commissure (at the thyroid cartilage) posteriorly to the vocal processes of the arytenoid cartilages.
