Definition

A marginal labrum (Labrum articulare) constitute a kind of rim that enlarges and completes the articular cavity at its periphery. It is in general well demarcated from the articular cartilage, by a groove or a narrow smooth zone. The texture is mainly fibrous and very comparable to the one of the tendons. The beams of fibers, very tight; are usually disposed in a concentric way but some, oblique or radial give the cohesion and a great solidity to the assembly. The periphery is in general well vascularised by a circular arterio-veinous plexus.
