Definition
Longitudinal pontine fibers consist of projection tracts organized into three main groups:
Corticopontine fibers, which terminate in the pontine nuclei,
Corticonuclear (corticobulbar) fibers, which descend to the cranial nerve nuclei in the brainstem (pons and medulla oblongata), and
Corticospinal fibers, which continue to the anterior horn cells of the spinal cord.
