Definition

The mesencephalic tract of trigeminal nerve is fibers for the mesencephalic nucleus of trigeminal nerve that run lateral to the cerebral aqueduct in the floor of fourth ventricle. They convey proprioceptive impulses from the teeth, masticatory muscles, and temporomandibular joints.
