Precuneal branches

Rami precuneales

  • Related terms: Precuneate branches

Definition

The precuneal branches of the pericallosal artery are the last cortical branch that supplie the inferior part of the precuneus and the cuneus.

Note that in angiography and in microsurgical studies (Rhoton et al.), the term precuneal branches is not commonly used and termed superior parietal arteries.

In theses descriptions, the cortical branches of the ACA being are described as follow:

  • Orbitofrontal arteries
  • Frontopolar arteries
  • Internal frontal arteries (anterior, middle and posterior)
  • Paracentral arteries
  • Parietal arteries:
    • Superior parietal arteries
    • Inferior parietal arteries
