The root of the mesentery is the part that is connected with the structures in front of the vertebral column)
The root is narrow, about 15 cm long, and is directed obliquely from the duodenojejunal flexure at the left side of the second lumbar vertebra to the right sacroiliac articulation. The root of mesentery crosses the second and third parts of duodenum, abdominal aorta,Inferior vena cava, right ureter, right psoas major muscle, and right gonadal artery.
