Superior aberrant ductules

Ductulus aberrans superior

  • Related terms: Superior aberrant ductule of epididymis

Definition

IMAIOS

The superior aberrant ductules are rudimentary blindending tubules derived from the mesonephric tubules that fail to establish connection with the rete testis. Located in the head of the epididymis, superior to the efferent ductules, they represent vestigial remnants of the cranial mesonephric tubules and lack excretory function. Occasionally, they may give rise to spermatic cord cysts or epididymal cystic structures of clinical relevance.
