Definition
Supraoptic recess (a.k.a. optic recess or chiasmatic recess) is small space or recess, which is an extension of the anterior wall of the third ventricle. It is situated on the superior surface of the optic chiasma and in front of the infundibular recess. Being part of the third ventricle, it contains cerebrospinal fluid.
