Terminal ventricle

Ventriculus terminalis

Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid

The terminal ventricle, or ventricle of the conus medullaris, is a cerebrospinal fluid-filled expansion of the central canal at the spinal cord's distal end near the conus medullaris. Lined with ependymal cells and surrounded by lamina X gray matter, it is an embryological remnant of unclear significance and may persist as a variant in adults.
