肱三头肌内侧头起自肱骨骨干后面，位于桡神经沟的下方和内侧。此外，它还接受来自内侧肌间隔的额外纤维。
内侧头的肌纤维在上臂远端与长头和外侧头的肌纤维汇合，共同构成肱三头肌总腱。该坚韧的肌腱以单一融合的整体止于尺骨鹰嘴突。内侧头的主要功能是伸肘关节。
