定义
前磨牙（又称双尖牙，dentes præmolares）共八颗，上下牙弓各四颗。其位于尖牙的侧方及后方，较尖牙更小且更短。
牙冠在前后方向上呈压扁状，顶端有两个锥形隆起（即牙尖），分别为唇侧尖和舌侧尖，二者之间由一条沟分隔；此即双尖牙名称之由来。两个牙尖中，唇侧尖较大且更为突出。牙颈呈椭圆形。牙根通常为单根，呈压扁状，其前面及后面各有一条深沟，提示牙根有分叉为双根的倾向。根尖通常呈分叉状。
上颌前磨牙较下颌前磨牙更大，且牙根分叉的倾向更为明显；尤以上颌第一前磨牙为甚。
