定义
右肾上腺位于下腔静脉和肝右叶的后方，膈肌和右肾上端的前方。
其形态大致呈三角形；基底部朝向下方，与右肾上端的内侧面和前面相接触。
该腺体具有两个面供检查，即前面和后面：
- 前面朝向前方和外侧，分为两个区域：内侧区狭窄，无腹膜覆盖，位于下腔静脉的后方；外侧区略呈三角形，与肝脏相接触。外侧区的上部无腹膜覆盖，与肝裸区靠近其下内侧角处相邻，而其下部则覆有腹膜，该腹膜由冠状韧带下层反折而来；偶尔，十二指肠可与下部区域重叠。在腺体顶端稍下方、近前缘处，有一短沟称为肾上腺门，肾上腺静脉由此发出，汇入下腔静脉。
- 后面被一弓形嵴分为上、下两部分：上部略呈凸面，紧贴膈肌；下部呈凹面，与肾脏上端及其前面的邻近部分相接触。
