舌下神经核下核，又称Roller核，位于舌下神经核腹侧，内侧纵束外侧。该神经核含有大型多极细胞，其间散布有中等大小及小型细胞。尽管结构不甚紧密，但其与中间神经核及前置神经核均存在密切联系。这些联系由纵向走行的纤维束加以强化，该纤维束将此神经核与网状结构分隔开来。舌下神经核下核表现出显著的个体差异，尤其体现在其尾侧延伸范围及细胞构筑方面。
