舌中隔由一层纵向纤维组织构成，沿舌正中面延伸贯穿舌的全长，但未完全到达舌背。其后部较前部厚，偶尔含有一小块纤维软骨，长约6毫米。通过对舌作垂直横切面，可清晰显示此结构。
