Antoine Micheau

The accessory anterior tibiofibular ligament (Bassett's ligament) is an accessory fascicle of the anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament (AITFL) in the ankle. It is anatomically located anterolaterally, running parallel and inferior to the main AITFL, and can be visualized on MRI and ultrasound as a distinct structure.

This ligament is considered a normal anatomical variant, present in a significant proportion of both pediatric and adult populations.
