Spina iliaca anterior inferior
Definition
The anterior inferior iliac spine is a bony prominence located on the anterior margin of the ilium, positioned below the anterior superior iliac spine. It can be divided into upper and lower halves. The upper half of the anterior inferior iliac spine serves as an attachment point for the straight head of the rectus femoris muscle, while the lower part also provides attachment to the iliofemoral ligament.
