Anterior part of coronary ligament

The term "anterior part of the coronary ligament" refers to the superior (anterior) layer of the coronary ligament of the liver. The coronary ligament is a peritoneal reflection that attaches the posterior surface of the liver to the diaphragm. It consists of two parts, a superior (often called "anterior"), and an inferior part that enclose the bare area of the liver, the region devoid of peritoneal covering.

The superior layer of the coronary ligament is a continuation of the peritoneum from the diaphragmatic surface of the liver onto the undersurface of the diaphragm. It extends laterally from the falciform ligament and, at its rightmost extent, converges with the inferior layer to form the right triangular ligament. On the left side, the two layers converge to form the left triangular ligament.
