Definition
The articular facet of head of rib features two articular facets separated by a crest. These facets articulate with the bodies of two adjacent thoracic vertebrae and the intervertebral disc between them. The superior facet of the rib head articulates with the inferior costal facet of the vertebra above, while the inferior facet articulates with the superior costal facet of the vertebra below.
