Definition
The articular surface of medial condyle of the tibia has an oval shape with a longer anteroposterior axis. Its central portion is concave and directly articulates with the medial condyle of the femur. A C-shaped cartilaginous rim known as the medial meniscus covers the peripheral margin, separating the articular surface from the medial condyle of the femur. The medial meniscus functions as a shock absorber and provides stability to the knee joint. On the lateral side, the superior articular surface of medial condyle is elevated, forming a prominent bony tubercle that borders the medial portion of the intercondylar eminence.
